Regular Session -2- August 12, 2006 Ms. Gibbs made a motion to support the Reading Energy Conservation Initiative as outlined in the Superintendent's memorandum dated August 10, 2006. Seconded by Mr. Michaud. Motion passed 4-0. New Business First reading Reading Public Schools Policy Manual Sections A and G. Superintendent Schettini gave an introduction of Sections A (Foundations and Basic Commitments) and G (Personnel) of the Reading Public Schools Policy Manual. Other sections will be reviewed at future school committee meetings. Sections B (Board Governance and Operations), C (General School Administration), and D (Fiscal Management) will be reviewed next. Ms. Gibbs made a motion to accept the first reading of Section A of the Reading Public Schools Policy Manual as outlined in the Superintendent's memorandum dated August 9, 2006. Seconded by Mr. Michaud. Motion passed 4-0. Ms. Gibbs made a motion to accept the first reading of Section G of the Reading Public Schools Policy Manual as outlined in the Superintendent's memorandum dated August 9, 2006. Seconded bvMr. Caruso. Motion passed 4-0. Building Project Update Superintendent Schettini updated the Committee on the floor situation in the Reading Memorial High School field house. A memo was distributed from Design Partnership to the Committee. Reading Public Schools Mission/School Committee Direction The school committee had a discussion on their role and direction in being a mission driven school district.
