Present were Mr. Dahl, Mr. McFadden, Ms. Webb, <br />Mr. Carpenter, Mrs. Gibbs and Mr. Spadafora. Also present were Superintendent <br />Schettini, Associate Superintendent Richards and Director of Human Resources and <br />Finance, Mary DeLai. <br />Bills and Payrolls <br />Bills and Payrolls were circulated for signature. <br />Citizen's Input <br />There was no Citizen's Input. <br />Gifts <br />There were no gifts. <br />New Business <br />Superintendent Schettini introduced Associate Superintendent Richards for his last <br />curriculum presentation in Reading. <br />Associate Superintendent Richards introduced Linda Darisse, Principal of Parker Middle <br />School and John Fiore, Social Studies Teacher at Reading Memorial High School. Mrs. <br />Darisse gave an overview of the of middle school social studies curriculum. She stated <br />that S"' grade United States History course would not be the same as the history course in <br />grade nine. <br />Mr. Fiore stated that at the high school they have made tremendous progress to fulfill <br />department goals concerning curriculum revisions. Teachers have attended a social <br />studies conference. <br />Associate Superintendent Richards stated that it is a common sence approach rather than <br />the approach that is packaged by book companies. <br />Ms. Webb stated that in middle school, all grades hold mock elections and debates.
