W <br />.D <br />~ rAiSS. <br />Reading School Committee LUu , 0jc SE P <br />J' € ! ± P 1 u <br />Reading, Massachusetts <br />Regular Session June 6, 2005 <br />Call to Order <br />Chair McFadden called the School Committee to order at 6:02 p.m. in the Reading <br />Memorial High School Guidance Conference Room. Present were Mr. Dahl, Mr. <br />McFadden, Ms. Webb, Mr. Carpenter, Mrs. Gibbs and Mr. Spadafora. Also present were <br />Superintendent Schettini and Director of Human Resources and Finance, Mary DeLai <br />Bills and Payrolls <br />Bills and Payrolls were circulated for signature. <br />Citizen's Input <br />There was no Citizen's Input. <br />Gifts <br />There were no gifts. <br />Report from the Superintendent <br />Superintendent Schettini stated that the Reading Scholarship evening was a success with <br />$120,000 in scholarships awarded. He went on to say that the Reading Memorial High <br />School graduation was excellent with a large class of 302 students. <br />Mrs. Gibbs stated she attended the Pillars of Character Assembly at Killam. It was <br />exciting to see such enthusiasm in the young students. She stated that the RISE preschool <br />was having their spring show on June 13th at 11:00 a.m. <br />Chair McFadden then turned the meeting over to Superintendent Schettini. <br />Mr. Dahl stated that this past year had been a very difficult and challenging year for the <br />School Committee. They had to deal with re-districting, one building opening and two <br />buildings under construction. He stated that he thought Carl McFadden did an <br />exceptional job as Chairman of the Committee. He stated the Superintendent did an <br />excellent job getting through some tough issues this year. <br />_Mrs Gibbs made a motion to nominate Mr. Spadafora as School Committee Chair. <br />Mr. Carpenter seconded the motion. The vote was 6-0. Mr. Carpenter, Mr. Dahl, <br />Mr. McFadden, Ms. Webb, Mrs. Gibbs and Mr. Spadafora <br />
