Town of Reading - Meeting Minutes
Recycle Bin at the M.F. Charles Building. Joan will contact Jean Delios to see how
we can influence the developer to include a recycle bin in the parking lot.
Joan will contact the town manager on,
a. how our committee can publicize the positive energy savings that he said
are not well known by the town.
b. an update on LED street lighting and a possible recycle bin at M.F.
Charles'development.
c. the Road Diet that Walkable Reading supported during our Earth Day
event. Gina says that the next step would be a feasibility study. Gas lines
and sewer lines would need to be done. The TM said to us previously that
Mass DOT supports things like the Road Diet.
Reading Public Library Presentation, Ray and Ron need to meet prior to the
presentation.
Friends and Family day, June 14th: We need to let them know by May 22nd. Joan
suggested that we focus on our Climate Adaptation Report. We could make up
some disaster kits, summer and winter kits could be different. We'll make a
decision at our next meeting as to whether or not we participate in the day, and if
so, what our theme will be.
Assisting RMLD: We can prepare for the peak electrical load summer days by
devising ways to reduce our individual electrical load to lower peak load. We could
do this for RMLD by using mobile devices such as twitter to let people know when
they need to turn off some of their electrical equipment. In this way, RMLD would
need to purchase less "spot" electrical power which costs more.
RMHS: Jen Cambra has asked the committee to give a RMHS presentation on
climate change for the week of April 28th.
Page 1 2
2013 -09 -C3
