kv Earth Day: Michele presented her various purchases for kids that included <br />compasses, magnifying glasses, and shoot the disc launchers among others. The <br />committee discussed the various children activities that included, a scavenger hunt, <br />a compass walk (orienteering), a recycle race, a shoot the disc marksmanship <br />contest and construction of a bird - feeder. Gina sugg ested a white bin for textiles. <br />• A deserving Reading resident will receive our second Green Leadership Award. <br />• Laurie Ann will have flyers available at the RMLD. <br />• Michele will bring flyers to town hall, the library, etc. <br />• Bon will b-s to Bagel World, Dunkies, etc. <br />lkcheie_w RCTA and head <br />of Reading Recreation Department. <br />She will edit it prior <br />to sending to newspapers. <br />■ Joan praised Ron for his help in putting together our Climate Adaptation Report. Ron <br />replied that the report was truly a group effort with major contributions from David <br />and Joan as co- writers or the report and with outstanding editing from Gina and <br />Michele. The report represents the essence of a "group effort ". [Few committees <br />could equal this group effort.] <br />■ Gina asked if we cou <br />that he wou <br />report to Joan which <br />the town manager for his <br />rt. Ron said <br />d the final <br />• Gina will speak to a Girl Scout group consisting of four girls on one of the following <br />dates, March 21, 22, 28 or 29. The scouts are seeking to complete the requirements <br />for a merit badge. Gina also suggested that perhaps the girls could do a project. <br />• Laurie Ann has contacted a hair salon in Reading that has saved many kilowatt hours <br />by switching a number of incandescent light bulbs to LEDs. She received a financial <br />incentive from MassSaves to receive 56 LED bulbs for only $382, a huge savings. <br />She reduced her kWh usage by almost one half. From December 2012, 1400 kWhs <br />( ?) to December 21013, 750 kWhs. Her salon is a great candidate for our Green <br />Business Award. <br />• Bike swap: Betsy Schneider will come to our next meeting to discuss this year's <br />bike swap. Ray will be a major hel . He will sign -up experienced <br />bike techs who will inspect the bikes and make small repairs as necessary. <br />• March 12th at 6 p.m. Ron and Mike will meet with representative from Keolis <br />Commuter Services, responsible for Commuter Rail. <br />Page 1 2 <br />
