S-2 <br />READING SCHOOL COMMITTEE MINUTES <br />JANUARY 10, 1983 <br />Mrs. Philbrick moved, seconded by Mr. Allen, and it was voted unanimously, to <br />approve for preliminary budgetary purposes, $47,900 for reroofing the girls' <br />gymnasium at Reading Memorial High School, This motion changed the total of the <br />7200 series to $172,900. <br />There was a brief discussion of the agreement for maintenance and scheduling of <br />fields with the Board of Public Works and the Recreation Committee which the School <br />Committee has conditionally approved. Chairman Garroway felt that at the January 17th <br />meeting the School Committee could vote final approval of the document. <br />Mr. Coco moved, seconded by Mrs. Philbrick, and it was voted unanimously that a <br />total of $9,650 be deleted from the expense portion of the FY84 budget - $9,300 for <br />field maintenance and $350 for gas for mowing. <br />Mr. Coco moved, seconded by Mr. Landers, and it was unanimously voted that $3,600 <br />for summer help be deleted .from the salary portion of the FY84 budget. <br />Mr. Coco, who has acted as liaison to the Board of Public Works and the Recreation <br />Committee, said he was glad to see this come about, adding that it is first step in <br />cooperation between boards in Town. <br />Following a discussion of the budget as a whole and the expected surplus in the <br />FY83 salary account of $75- 100,000, Mr. Landers moved, seconded by Mr. Coco, and it <br />was unanimously voted to adopt as bottom line figures for the FY84 budget $1,886,348 <br />for expenses and $8,921,157 for salaries, contingent upon application and availability <br />of a surplus and to conform with Finance Committee guidelines - for a total of <br />$10,807,505. <br />Executive Session - Adjournment <br />At 8:20 p. m. Mr. Allen moved, seconded by Mrs. Philbrick, that the Committee enter: <br />into executive session to discuss matters pertaining to bargaining and negotiations <br />and a personnel matter. The motion carried by unanimous roll call vote.
