REGULAR SESSION MINUTES 2 FEBRUARY 27, 1989 <br />BUDGET UPDATE <br />On the recommendation of the administration, <br />Stan Nissen moved that the School Committee approve the final <br />budget, dated February 13, 1989, totaling $15,355,729.00, for <br />presentation to the Finance Committee. Barbara Philbrick seconded <br />the motion. The vote was unanimous. <br />NEW BUSINESS <br />PEARL STREET LEASES <br />On the recommendation of the administration, <br />Barbara Philbrick moved that the School Committee turn over the <br />Pearl Street School for the care, custody, and management to the <br />Reading Board of Selectmen. Carol Lyons seconded the motion. The <br />vote was unanimous. <br />ARNOLD BERGER GIFT <br />Arnold Berger offered to donate $10,053 to the Reading Public <br />Schools for the purchase of materials to be used in our library <br />media program. <br />On the recommendation of the administration, <br />Stan Nissen moved that the Readinca Public Schools accept the <br />donation of monies with thanks from Arnold Berger. Barbara <br />Philbrick seconded the motion. The vote was unanimous. <br />The School Committee publicly shared its appreciation to Arnold <br />Berger for his generous gift to the school department. <br />FIELD TRIP POLICY <br />Dr Munnelly presented the School Committee with recommendations <br />regarding the Administrative Policy on elementary field trips at <br />the elementary level. Discussion followed. <br />On the recommendation of the administration: <br />Barbara Philbrick moved to amend the policy IIGA regarding field <br />trips and insert the outlined paragraph on the IICA Draft, revised <br />date of January 25, 1989. Margaret Cowell seconded the motion. <br />The vote was unanimous. <br />REVISION OF HIGH SCHOOL RULES AND REGULATIONS <br />Bob Quinn, Assistant Principal at RMHS highlighted the suggested <br />revisions of school rules for the student handbook.
