Community Planning and Development Commission
CPDC MINUTES
Meeting Dated: November 13, 2007
Location: Reading Memorial High School, Room 215 Time: 6:45 PM
Members Present: Brant Ballantyne, (BB), Chairman; David Tuttle (DT), Secretary; and John
Weston (JW).
Members Absent: Nicholas Safina (NS), John Sasso (JS).
Also Present: Town Planner Carol Kowalski, Reading Town Counsel Ellen Callahan Doucette.
Consideration of Revisions to the Proposed Bylaw Amendment on Detached
Garages and Accessory Buildings
Mr. Ballantyne called the meeting to order at 7:00pm.
Ms Doucette noted that part of the proposed bylaw amendment on accessory buildings and
detached garages that would add those two strictures to the Table of Uses was problematic. The
CPDC had been informed that their inclusion in the Table would disallow storage sheds, for
example. Mr. Ballantyne suggested eliminating the accessory building and detached garages
lines from the Table of Uses in the proposed bylaw. The dimensional requirements would still
govern these structures, he said.
Mr. Ballantyne moved that the CPDC recommend. a revision to the bylaw and eliminate the
additions to the Table of Uses. Mr. Tuttle seconded. All voted in favor.
Mr. Ballantyne then moved to amend the motion under the article to remove that portion of
Article 13 that seeks to amend the Table of Principle Uses to include detached. garages and
accessory buildings. Mr. Weston seconded. All voted in favor.
Mr. Ballantyne moved to adjourn the meeting. Mr. Weston seconded. The meeting was
adjourned at 7:17pm.
These minutes were prepared by Carol Kowalski and submitted to the CPDC on December 3,
2007; the minutes were approved as amended by the CPDC on December 3, 2007.
Signed as approved,
David Tuttle, Secretary
