Chairman Messina called the meeting to order at 7:45 P..M. in Room 19, 52 Sanborn Street (the Community Center) with Board members M. Rich, C. Arthur and B..Mitchel present. Also present were FinCom representative, Bob Messenger, LWV repre- sentative, Barbara Hewitt, and a reporter from the Reading Chronicle. Mrs. Adams of the Historical Commission attended briefly. Ms. Adams was given a copy of the "Scenic Roads Regulations on request. Town Meeting Warrant Articles Town Counsel spoke with' the Chairman and advised regarding the Articles proposed for the Special Town Meeting Warrant: 1) - Instructional motion at Annual. Chairman Wood stated that there have been 2 separate proposals: one to sell the entire parcel of land now occupied by BPW garage and the incinerator; another to sell a portion of the land abutting the incinerator site ..and the Incinerator .itself_. _ _Two companies .1TABC (and ARDC) are bidding for these parcels. The bids go from $800K to $1..6 million- BPW asked the Land. Bank Committee to investi- gate other Town.-owned, sites for possibly moving the` BP,.W :crarage. Special Town Meeting Warrant will have 2 separate articles dealing with the sale of this land. Board will wait publica- tion of the Warrant before further discussion of this matter. Spence Farm The Building Inspector granted a permit to Spence Farm to build their 30' x 30' "roadside stand". BPW.reviewed and accepted the access/egress roadcuts with special attention to the traffic flow and hazards in the area. Busy Bee Florist Ms. Rich inquired about the Selectmen's instructions to Town Counsel to come to terms with attorney for Busy Bee Florist to allow the florist shope to continue operation. Chairman stated that Selectmen can drop suit against "Busy Bee" and the Board of Appeals decision allowing operation to run with ownership would then prevail. Meeting Schedule The next meeting of the Board will be on Tuesday, October 4th at 7:30 PM. The Board meetings will now be held on Tuesday because of schedule conflict with Chairman for. Wednesdays. Board will meet on Monday and/or Thursday during Town Meeting. Upon a motion duly made and seconded, it,-was unanimously voted to adjourn at 8:50 P.M. Respectfully submitted, Barry J. Mitchel Clerk
