Chairman pro-tem Mitchel presided and opened the meeting in
Room 19, 52 Sanborn Street with all members present. New
member John Wood was introduced and welcomed.
Board Officers
Upon motions duly made and seconded,. Maureen Rich was nominated
as Chairman and elected by a vote of 4-0-1; and Charles Arthur, Jr.
was nominated as Clerk and elected by a vote'of 4-0-1.
Avalon Road Residents
George and Ella Roman asked permission to speak to the Board about
a development of 32 additional houses on 2 cul-de-sacs off West
Street and 2 additional houses on West Street. ,Mr. Roman was
concerned about having only one-:access to the 2 cul-de-sacs and
would like to have another out to West Street.
Board of Survey has scheduled a public hearing on the revised
plans for March 29th.
Mr. Roman felt there would be considerable problems with trespassing -
children cutting through private land to get to schools (Eaton &
Parker Jr. High), dowtown, as well as traffic hazards from such
a proposal. He presented a letter stating his concerns n~"- is

attached hereto as part of~the meeting record. Suggestion was
made for an option to purchase upon death of certain adjoining
landowners additional property to protect neighboring residents
from adverse impacts of such a development.
Developments Proposed
Board reviewed and discussed Jack Rivers development plans for land
in Mill Street area.
Correspondence
Board is in receipt of a letter from.TASC in which they state that they
have never recommended relocation of-DPW into residential areas or
any other specific site within Town; and would not mind DPW across
street at Dump Site. Other mail was reviewed.

MAPC has offered assistance to Town with transportation plans and
improvements including bridge reconstruction, traffic flow, land
use, etc. They also requested copies of new zoning handbooks and
maps as soon as these are available.
