The meeting came to order at 7:05 p.m. in the Conference Room of the Town
Hall.

1. The Minutes.from the 6/1/10, 6/22/10 and 7/13/10 meetings were
reviewed and by a vote of 3-0 in favor, were approved.
2. Bare Meadow Enhancement Project - Punch List: o
a. The blazing of the White, Yellow and Red Trails has been D
;.o
completed.
b. Kim and Will spent time adding the additional 300 or so screw430
the Haverhill Street boardwalk.
C. We need to dig holes for the three kiosks at the Mattera Cabin Trail,
at the entrance to the Blue Trail at the Wood End Cemetery trail
and at the Haverhill Street entrance near the boardwalk.
d. The edging of the Haverhill Street boardwalk should be added.
e. Trail head signage in the Meadow and in the trails needs to be
done.
f. Bring some of the composite from the Haverhill Street pile over to
the Mattera trail and shore up the cement pads where the
Understanding Handicaps benches are.
g. Tom will look into renting a gas powered auger to dig the holes and
what the cost would be. Fran will see if Cons Comm has $ to rent
the auger. What is the possibility of having DPW dig some holes
for the kiosks, particularly at the Mattera trail head?
3. The next workday is scheduled for Sunday 8/15/10 at 8:00 a.m. Bring
shovels, post-hole diggers, picks, tamper, wheelbarrow, loppers, clippers,
etc. The intention is to dig holes for as many kiosks as we can get done
and put them up.
4. Adopt-a-Trail Event at the Senior Center has been rescheduled to take
place on Thursday, 9/29/10 from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

a. To be considered for the event:
b. Sending invitations to current adopters, Fran has the master list;
c. Newspaper ads, fliers, e-mail notifications, FORR website
d. Does Kim have the flier from last year? Maybe we could use it
again?
e. Sue will contact the newspapers
f. Tom will put notices in the plastic envelopes he posted on kiosks
last year.
g. Dave has offered to be the narrator/speaker representing the Trails
Committee
h. Alan will begin to put together a slide show with current pictures of
our workdays and progress.
i. Fran will make up more copies of the Adopt-a-Trail handbook to
pass out.
j. Susan and Joan will bring refreshments.
k. Maybe Kim would be willing to put together some maps for display.
5. Walkabale Reading Participation - Dave will continue to work on the
history of Bare Meadow which will eventually be a part of Walkable
Reading's program.
6. Fran wondered if we might be willing to dig holes for a kiosk at Pinevale
on the Sunday 8/15/10 workday if we have enough time.
7. Fran would like to lay out trails at Johnson Woods.
8. During discussion to find an Associate Member for the Committee in place
of Tom Connery, Will Finch suggested he'd be interested. Dave Williams
made a motion to appoint Will as Associate Member and it was voted
4 - 0 in favor of accepting the motion and having Will as an Associate
Member. Will will contact Paula Schena.
The next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, September 14, 2010 at 7:00 p.m.
Tom will post the meeting with the Clerk's office.
Voted to adjourn the meeting (4-0). The meeting adjourned at 8:40 p.m.
