In Attendance:
Minutes: Joan Hoyt
Members: Tom Gardiner, Joan Hoyt, Susan Giacalone, Alan Rosh
Assoc. Member: John Parsons

The meeting came to order at 7:10 p.m. in the Berger Room of the Town Flk.
cn
Joan and Susan gave an update on how the Friends and Family Da. Z.
event went. We had many interested adults and kids come to the booth.
A few people signed up to be placed on the contact list for future trail
work. The maps were very popular again this year. Thanks to Mark and
Kim who printed up enough so we didn't run out this time. Thanks to Alan
for letting us use his canopy tent as it was another hot sunny day. Many
reports of various wildlife sightings and much interest in the Reading trails.
2. Joan will contact someone from the Walkable Reading group to invite a
representative to our next meeting to discuss the idea of adding a few
Reading trails and their story or history to their program list.
3. Fran proposed the idea of weekly trail walks/hikes around town trails. The
committee members could take turns leading the walks. It could be an
hour long walk/hike with a lesson or discussion about the particular trail.
4. The vocational school has finished up their work at the Mattera Cabin for
the school year.
5. Discussion about the possibility of not mowing Bare Meadow and leaving
it in its natural state. It has to be mowed now and then, maybe once a
year to keep it from growing in but should be left at 7-8" in length. Mowing
it in the Fall would be a good time.
6. Bare Meadow Trail Enhancement Project:
a. Boardwalk Discussion: Alan will work on the framing of the
boardwalk nearest Haverhill Street during the week prior and those
who can, will meet at the Mattera cabin at 8:00 a.m. on Monday,
July 5t", to finish up. Ramps at each end are needed and decking
for the whole structure is needed.
b. Three kiosks have been ordered by Fran:
Large - Mattera Trail entrance
Medium - Haverhill Street trail entrance
Small - At Wood End Cemetery trail entrance
c. The remaining money from the grant has been used to purchase
paint for blazing trails and trail head marker posts. These items are
all in the Mattera Cabin garage.
d. Fran will meet with Amanda Lewis who will be in Reading on Friday
July 9, 2010 and will view the boardwalks and the progress we've
made.
7. Adopt-a-Trail - John will make phone calls to get updates on the adopters
and find out the status of their adopted trails, if they are still working on
trails and if they wish to continue.
The next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, July 13, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. in the
Conference Room of the Town Hall.
Voted to adjourn the meeting (4-0). The meeting adjourned at 8:30 p.m.
