The meeting was called to order at 7,10 P.M. b the Totv Accountant
who called for nominations for Chairman. Mr. John L. Devaney wqs nominated
a
the nominations were close, and it was voted that he Town Accountant cast
NOballot for john L. Devaney as Chairman. Mr. Devaney appointed Mr.
Allan H. Sturges as 'rice Chairman to act in the absence of the Chairman.
The records o the meeting of March 4th were read and approved. 'i`he
Chairman gave an opportunity for the members to introduce any matter for
consideration of the Committee, an Mr. Sturges spoke on conditions in the
Welfare Department, stating that in his opinion there were certain matters
that should be investigated,
hr. Ourrell spoke on 1i'.P.A. expenditures and suggested that the W.P.A.
also be investigated,
It was voted that the Finance Committee place an article in the
warrant for the coming town meeting providing for the appointment of a
Committee of five to study the Pu llc Welfare and WO. A. departments and
to engage u';:-xe services of an expert at an expense not to exceed 1000.00,
this Committee to be made up as follows: two members to be appointed
b the Finance Committee, one member by the Board of Selectmen, one member
b the Board of Public Works, one member by the Board of Public Welfare,
and that thi committee report at a f tAN2 town meeting.
