Public Meeting,
The Public leeting was called to order at 8 o'clock by the Chairman.
The following persons appeared as interested citizens: Mr. Henry R.
Johnson, Mr. Joseph D. Knight, and Mr. =sector Xavier.
Mr. {might inquired as to the amount of money involved for Article
No. 12 - Entertainment in connection with t''.?e American Legion Convention.
He also spoke on Article jl calling for an appropriation for printing
of -Street Lists and felt that the Town might forego the publication of
this book providing only the number of lists required by law.
Mr. Xavier spoke on Article 33 providing for the publication of
valuation list for the year 19'0, He felt that inasmuch as no valuation
lisp had been published since 1;16, the Town should this year publish a
list and felt that it would be of great benefit to the town.
Mr. Johnson expressed the opinion that a re-valuation of the town
property was a most essential need. There was some discussion as to
the desirability of changing the plan of assessing property and providing
for a principal assessor who should give his whole time to the work. It
was stressed that the re-assessment of property is a most important matter.
Mr. Xavier also asked some questions regarding the plans of the Board
of public '.'corks especially= as to sidewalk construction.
The Public Meeting closed at 8-50 P.M.
The records of the meeting of February 12th were read and approved.
The report of the sub-committee on the purchase of fire apparatus was
presented by Mr. Trevor. The committee had inspected the old ladder
truck and were of the unanimous opinion that this anti should be replaced.
Several types of apparatus were mentioned ranging in price from "15,500.00
downward.
Where was a full and free discussion of the matter by no recom enda-
tion was voted at this time, The Clerk was instructed to notify all
she Departments concerned in whatever business had not been disposed of
to meet with the Committee on Monday evening, February 26th.
