Coolidge Middle School School Council Minutes for December 16, 1993 The meeting was called to order at 7:25 pm on December 16, 1993 in the A. W-'-,, Coolidge Middle School Media Center. Present: Al LaHood, Larry, Chomsky, Roy Welsch, Carol Perletz, Marge Pacino, , Peter Hitchborn, Debbie Reinemann (all present) The meeting notes from 11/30 were approved. Al LaHood began by asking the School Council to attend the January 26, 1994 evening-meeting with Richard Strong. (consultant to the schools)--The council----------- agreed that this would be a worthwhile meeting and will attend. The next School Council meetings will be January 6, and January 20, both starting at 7:15 pm in the Coolidge Media Center. Larry Chomsky brought to the councils notice that the Birch Meadow School Council. will do a survey of the town regarding the schools. Some discussion ensued regarding joining this survey and the possible results. The idea was tabled until a later date. Al LaHood distributed: a. composite/summary of the Reading Inclusion Profile b. A. W. Coolidge Middle School "A Place Where All Can Learn" c. Inclusion Profile Budget for all schools d. Inclusion Profile Budget for A. W. Coolidge Middle School These will all be discussed in detail at the next council meeting. Roy Welsch raised the issue of the gifted and talented. Are they being addressed in the Inclusion Profile as well? A lengthy discussion then followed regarding grouping, leveling, and tracking as present (or not so) in the Reading Schools. Al then explained the budget for the Inclusion Profile; this budget needs to be approved by School Committee.
