The next meeting was set for April 26, 1994 at 7:15 pm at the Coolidge Middle School.
Al LaHood discussed the deadlines for the school improvement plan. The plan must
be submitted to the School Committee by May 2 and a meeting will be held with the
School Committee on May 9 to discuss the plan. At least two members of the School
Council should attend the May 9 meeting.
The current draft of the School Improvement Plan was put before the committee by
Larry Chomsky who had incorporated the many changes suggested in earlier
meetings. Al LaHood then submitted additional revisions in the areas of Core Values,
Diverse Learning Needs, Technology, and Professional Development. All other
improvement areas were to be left for examination and subsequent action by the
School Council in the future.
Considerable discussion of the plans for these four areas led to numerous substantive
and editorial changes. Agreement was reached on almost all issues and Lary
Chomsky was again asked to prepare a revised version of the plan for presentation at
the next School Council meeting. The goal is to obtain final approval for the plan at
that meeting.
The Council will also have to appoint the two representatives for the School
Committee meeting on May 9.
The meeting was adjourned at 9:15 pm.
