Document Distribution from Roy- The Other Crisis in American Education From the agenda: Business began with review of a draft of the 1995-1996 School Improvement Plan through Goal 2, revised as directed from the previous School Council meeting. With several further alterations, the draft accurately stated the School Council's plans to date. Business moved on to discussion of a technology plan which would be a component of School Improvement Plan Goal 3, the " Integration of Technology". The writing of specificiations for a computer lab setting became the focus of discussion. "Functional Specs" and "Equipment/Cost Specs" as types were described. ♦ It was decided to submit PC specs to Joe Cain of RMHS, a knowledgeable in-house resource and advisor to many recent school system computer purchases, and Dennis Richards, the Acting Superintendent, for comment and suggestion, in anticipation of putting refined PC specs out for bid in late spring of this year. ♦ The committee also expressed a wish to consider the purchase of a limited number of Mac's for special, stand-alone areas if their performance is uniquely beneficial and if separate funds can be procured from other than the usual sources. ♦ "Task" statements were then amended and also added for Goal 3 which will be reflected in the revised School Improvement Plan document, expected to be available for scrutiny at the next School Council meeting. These tasks touched on : curriculum revision, workshop sessions, and contingency purchases subsequent to the purchase of new lab hardware and software specifically.
