John Carpenter reviewed the•CMS Building Committee Minutes of
March 20, 1996. .He felt that the CMS Council should attempt to
track the projected funds in the Reading Capital Expenditure
Plans. Also, that critical space planning for sp ecial needs
students should be a priority for planning by the School Council.
The School Council proceeded to go over each of the various oafs
for the School Improvement Plan, which is due on May lst in the
Superintendent's Office
The School Improvement Plan for the 1996 -97 school year was
looked at and revisions.were made.
John Carpenter gave a sharp review about Restructurin a school
using the following items as a model for action: g
I. law requirements
2. finance
3• physical where with -all
4. staff
5. students
6: keeping score (how do you know that you are successful ?)
(Meap )
7• environment (community mores)
The schools can use steps 1 -6 for their plans while #7 seems to
be the responsibility of local social workers. If all of these
could be achieved, the Restructuring and Educational Reform
would be achieved.
