➢ Kristie Jochmann was introduced. All members have now been sworn in by the town
clerk.
Sally Hoyt spoke about a bill going through the legislature regarding a tax credit for the
rehab of historic properties.
➢ Members received a copy of the West St. properties currently on the town's inventory
along with a map of the West St area.
Minutes from the 7 May meeting were reviewed and accepted as given.
This West St. study area will begin with #23 West St. and continue to #320 West St.
Will include other houses with strong visibility from West St; plan to go no more that 2
houses in from West St. Currently this area will not include the ArchStone properties
(#44-70 even) due to their pending demolition.
Reviewed guideline from other towns and discussed the appropriateness for Reading.
A Plan to use greater than majority vote to impose any restrictions. Certificate of
appropriateness would need to be issued when necessary.
Spoke of potential things to regulate/consider when determining restriction - No
decisions where made
® Determination of a percent of home damaged who repair need approval
® Could have only changes to dimensions, form or fabric of house
Garage location
® No satellite dishes
® No fences (chain link)
® No central air conditioners visible from a public way.

® How will this be enforced if no permit is required?

® Impact on architectural characteristics of the street
Next meeting will be Monday 2 June at 6:30. This meeting will commence at the corner
of West & Prescott Streets for a site visit then continue in the Town Hall conference
room about 8:30.
