The records of the last meeting were rear.. and approved after minor corrections were made. Chairman Roberts reported on the Joint meeting held on Monday evening, February 14th,, to which representatives of various Boards employing labor were present: He expressod the opinion- that the : etigg ,was a success in bringing out plans fog:- using labor in fro,_in departments to reduce 'Welfare costs. Auer a general discussion of the Welfare situation more especially in relation to putting men to work for town departments, the Committee again took up the budgets for 1938. Budget ;+F"4, Assessors' Clerical. it was voted to reconsider the vote of February 9th and on motion of Mr. Folsom, seconded by Mr. Noyes, it was voted to recoa-.end $2..4J ..00 for clerical salaries. This would provide an increase of ,!2.00 per week for one clerk to be made retroactive from January lst. Budget #3, Tax Collector's Salary. It was voted to recommend c„2300.000 fees to be returned to the Town Treasury. On :motion of Mr, Davis seconded by 4r. Noyes it was voted to recommend "I'l,000.00 for Collector's Expenses. Attention was called to the fact that the 01500 in the original, budget was an error and should have been 01,000.00. Voted to reconLmend $500.00 for Collector's Clerical, Budget -rr 12. :Police Department Salaries and Expenses. It was voted to confirzr_ the recorded vote of February 9th recommending 350740.00 for police Department Salaries, some doubt having been expressed as to the action of the previous meeting„ On motion of Mir. Noyes seconded by iyr• Folsom it was voted to re==end 4412300*00 for a two--way radio for the police Department Mr. Merrill wished to be recorded as voting in the negative. On motion of MIT r. Trevor, seconded by Mr. Goldsmith, it was voted to recom. wend $5,,275.00 for Police Department expenses. Budget r13. Fire Alarm Maintenance. On st'lotion of Nlr. Folsom., seconded by Tdr. Trevor, it was voted to recommend $1625.00..- On..motion of Mr. Trevor, seconded by Mr. Noyes, it was voted to recommend 16325.00 for new Fire Alarm boxes (3)- Budget `5. Sundry special appropriations.' Moved by :fir. Connelly seconded by Mr. Noyes and voted that .,:500 be recommended for Land. Court Flxpenses. Moved by Mr. Noyes and seconded by Dr. Connelly that X600,00 be recd .mended for Care of Soldiers? Graves. Moved by Mr. Trevor and seconded by Dr. Cormelly that '01000 be recorramended for 'Rent Legion Quarters. !Moved by Dr. Connelly and seconded by Mr. Goldsmith that 0600 be recommended for Mer,.ori l Bay expenses. ileetng Feb. l6, 138, Continued. The amount to be taken from the Cemetery Reserve Fund was discussed but no action was taken., Budget jr~30A. On motion of ?:Ir. Davis seconded by Mr. Noyes it was voted to recommend PlOOO for maintenance of Forest Olt Cemetery.. it being 1- der-stood that the item of $900 additional is to be taken from the '.P.A. appropriation. Budget 1131, On motion of -Ir. Davis seconded by INlr. Trevor it was voted to recommend 29, 000.00 for Maturing :debt. 'Budget ,433. On. motion of lAr. No,%es seconded by !`Ir. Currell it was voted to recommend 011,657.06 for+ Insurance. The matter of financing the towns s share of the cost of alterations and additions to the Iiiddlesex County T.B. Hospital in Waltham was next considered and it was voted that of the N,250 37 assessed to the Town of mead Ong, 923 0.37 be raised from the tax levy of 1938 and that, the balance be borrowed over a term not exceeding six years. The Chai Loran called attention to the public meeting to be held on Februaz y- 23rd and urged all members to be present.
