Meeting of the Finance Committee Fleeting,
The meeting was called to order at 8.10 P.M.
The Board of Selectmen, Chairman, Morton., Kill.am and {}oodrid.ge appeared
and asked for transfers from the Reserve Fund to the folalowin accounts
Tree Warden Expenses - 4200. it was expla.ined that this amount was
needed to carry on work on private property, the greater part of which would
be returned to the town from the property owners.
Traffic Light Insta.l.lation. - ; llO.00. This amount was needed to install
green arrows at certain points to improve the traffic light system.
insurance Account - iloo0. This transfer was made necessary by ad.d.i-
tional, premiums charged after audit of pay rolls o several departments,
the original appropriation being based upon 1936 experience and did not
prove sufficient to take care of the actual coverage.
Fire Department - `;;280. This transfer was pate necessary on account
of certain extraordinary expenses which were not included in the budget for
1937.
The Board of Public Welfare next appeased represented by Chairman
Poland and Sup tr.. Powell. Mr. Poland spoke at some length regarding the
k elafare situation as a whole and called particular attention to the appro-
priation, for General Relief, He stated: that the relief load had been come-
what lightened but indications were that more money would be needed area this
account before the end of the year. He :indicated, that between *15,000 and
20,000 would be needed.
The Board of Public Works, Chairman Bancroft, Davis, Putnam,
Erophy an S pt. Welch appeared and asked for transfers of the follolrrin,
amounts which were explained in a letter to the Chairman of the Committee
dated Sept. 20th.: -
Highway Account -w 050. the original amount being ,$3690.00, but
on account of circumstances rhici had arisen since the letter was the amount was increased; to 00.00. written,
Sidewalk Account J250.00.
