D., 1937 at seven o'clock in the forenoon, to act on they following article, viz: Article 1. To bring in their votes on one ballot for Moderator, for one year; Town Clerk for one year; one member of the Board of . Selectmen for three years; one member of the Board of Public Welfare, for three years; one member of the Board of Assessors, for three years; Treasurer, for one year; Collector of Taxes, for one year; two members of the Board of Public Works, for three years; two Con- stables; for one year; Tree Warden, for one year; one member of the Municipal Light Board, for three years; one member of the Board of Health for three rears; two mem- bers of the School Committee, for three years; two Trustees of the Public Library, for three years; two members of the Board of Cemetery I Trustees, for three years; two members of the Planning Board for three years. And to meet in Security Hall, Woburn Street on MONDAY THE EIGHTH DAY OF MARCH, A. D., 1937 at seven forty -five o'clock in the evening, to I' act on the following articles: Article 2. To hear and act on the reports of the Board of Selectmen, Town Accountant, Treasurer, Collector of Taxes, Board of As- sessors, Board of Public Works, Town Clerk, Tree Warden, Board of Health, Board of Public Welfare, School Committee, Public Library Trustees, Municipal Light Board, Cemetery Trustees, Planning Board, Finance Committee and any other Boards and Special Committees. Article 3. To choose all other necessary town officers and special committees and determine what instructions shall be given town officers and special committees. Article 4. To determine how much money the Town will raise and appropriate for General Government, Protection of Persons and Prop- erty, Health and Sanitation, Board of Pub- lic Works including Highways, Sidewalks, Drainage, Common, Parks and Supervised Play, Water Department, and Sewer Department; Charities and Aid, Soldiers' Benefits, Public Schools, Public Library, Cemeteries, Memorial Day Observance, Municipal Light Department, Street Lighting, Maturing Debt, Interest, In' surance and General Accounts. Article 5. To see if the Town will vote to authorize the Town Treasurer, with the approval u of the Selectmen, to borrow money from time to time in anticipation of the revenue of the financial year beginning January 1, 1938, and r to issue a note or notes therefor, payable within 1. one year, and to renew any note or notes as may be given for a period of less than one'' year in accordance with Section 17, Chapter 44, General Laws. To see if the Town will vote to authorize the Board of Selectmen to acquire by ;purchase, by right of eminent domain or other- wise, in the name and behalf of the Town, a parcel of land located in Great Island so- called, containing approximately twelve (12) acres and twenty -seven (27) rods and owned by the late Otis P. Symonds, said land when acquired to be a part of the Town Forest and devoted to the culture of forest trees, and to see what sum the town will raise and appropriate therefor, or what it will do in relation thereto. To see if the Town will vote to amend Sec. 2 of Article 1 of the by- lairs of the ;Town by striking therefrom the third and fourth sentences thereof which read as follows: "Notice of every adjourned Town meeting be- fore which any proposed re- consideration is to come shall be posted by the Town Clerk in five conspicuous public places in the Town, as soon as possible after the adjournment, and he shall, if practicable, publish such notice in some newspaper published in the Town at least one day before the time of said adjourned meet- ing. To see if the Town will vote to authorize the Selectmen to sell on " such terms and conditions as they may determine, any and all real estate acquired by the Town for taxes, wherein such title has been duly perfected as provided by law, and to sign, seal, acknowledge and deliver in the name and behalf of the Town, deeds and such other in- struments which may be necessary, conveying such property to the purchasers thereof, or what it will do in relation thereto. Board of Selectmen. Article 18. To see if the Town will authorize the School Committee to acquire by pur- chase, taking by eminent domain or other- wise for school purposes, a parcel of land ,adjoining the High School Grounds, together with the buildings thereon, owned by Henry Q. Millett and located on the easterly side of Linden Street;' containing approximately 17,000 what it do in relation thereto. Board of Public Works. Article 26. To see what sum the Town will raise and appropriate for the maintenance of the town dump on John St., or what it will do in relation thereto. Board of Public Works. Article 27. To see what sum the Town will 1 raise by borrowing or otherwise, and appro 1 priate, for the construction and equipment of a Municipal garage, and the acquisition by pur- 1 chase, eminent domain or otherwise of the 1 necessary land therefor, or what it will do in relation thereto. Board of Public Works. Article 28. To see if the Town will raise and appropriate the sum of four thousand ($4,000.00) dollars, for the purpose of improving and con- structing Woburn Street from the end of the 1936 construction on Woburn Street, thence'' easterly on Woburn Street toward Reading Square, under Section 34, Chapter 90 of the General Laws, together with such sums as may be provided by the State and County, or what ! it will do in relation thereto. Board of Public Works. Article 29. To see if the Town will raise and dollars, for the purpose of improving and con- structing 'Lowell Street, from the end of the 1936 construction on Lowell Street, thence east- erly on Lowell Street toward Reading Square, under Section 34, Chapter 90 of the General 'Laws, together with such sums as may be provided by the State and County, or what it will do in relation thereto. Board of Public Works. Article 30. To see if the Town will vote to accept the report of the Board of Public Works upon the laying out as a public highway of a private way known as Priscilla Road, under the provisions of law authorizing the assessment of betterments, such highway being laid out in accordance with plan duly approved by the Board of Survey and filed in the office of the Town Clerk, in accordance with the statutory requirements, and to see if the Town will ac- cept the public way laid out by the Board of Public Works as Priscilla Road, and to raise and _appropriate for the said laying out and the - construction of said way the sum of nine hundred twenty -five ($925.00) dollars, or what f itwill do in relation thereto. To see if the Town will vote to accept the report of the Board of Public Works upon the laying out as a public high - way of a private way known as Puritan Road, under the provision of law authorizing the as- sessment of betterments, such highway being laid out in accordance with plan duly ap- proved by the Board of Survey and filed in the office of the Town Clerk, in accordance with the statutory requirements, and to see if the Town will accept the public way laid out by the Board of Public Works as Puritan Road, and to raise and appropriate for the said laying out and the construction of said way the s of one thousand seventy ($1,070.00) dollars, or what it will do in relation thereto. Board of Public Works. Article 32. To see if the Town will vote to accept the report of the Board of Public Works upon the laying out as a public highway of a private way known as Waverly Road, under the provisions of law authorizing the assess - ment of betterments, such highway being laid out in accordance with plan duly approved by the Board of Survey and filed in the office of the Town Cleric in accordance with the statu- tory requirements, and to see if the Town will i accept the public way laid out by the Board of Public Works as Waverly Road, and to °raise and appropriate for the said laying out and the construction of said way the sum of three hun- dred nineteen ($319.00) dollars, or what it will do in relation thereto. Board of Public Works. Article 33. To see if the Town will vote to accept the report of the Board of Public Works upon the laying out as a public highway of a private way known as Laneton Way, under the provisions of law authorizing the assessment of j betterments, such highway being laid out in accordance with plan duly approved by the t Board of Survey and filed in the office of the Town Cleric, in accordance with the statutory requirements and to see if the Town will ac- cept the public way laid out by the Board of Public Works as Laneton Way, and to raise and appropriate for the said laying out and !. the construction of said way the sum of three hundred forty two and 50 1100 ($342.50) dollars, or what it will do in relation thereto. Board of Public Works. Article 34. To see if the Town will vote to authorize the Board of Public Works to peti- tion the General Court for enabling legislation conferring power upon the Town to require owners of land abutting on a public or private way in which there is a common sewer to r connect with such common sewer, or what it will do in relation thereto. To see if the Town will vote to* authorize the Board of Public Works to collect, remove and dispose of ashes and rubbish in the Town under such rules and regulations as the Board of Public Works may from time to time establish and to see what sum the Town will raise and appropriate for such purpose, or what it will do in relation thereto. Board of Public Works. Article 36. To see if the Town will vote to accept the report of the Board of Public Works on relocating, or altering of the corner of Kingston St. and Mt. Vernon St., said corner being relocated or altered in accordance with plan duly approved by the Board of Pub- lic Works and filed in the office of the Town Cleric in accordance with the statutory require- ments, and to see if the Town will accept the relocation, or alteration of the corner of King- ston St. and Mt. Vernon St. as shown on said plan, or what it will do in relation thereto. Board of Public Works. Article 37. To see if the Town will raise and appropriate a sum of money sufficient to cover the expense of publishing a list of valuation of all real and personal estates in the Town of Reading for the year 1937, or what it will do m iela ron t ereto. To see what sum the Town will raise and appropriate for the installation of a two -way radio system for the Police De- partment, or what it will do in relation thereto. Board of Selectmen. Article 39. To see if the Town will vote to accept the provisions of Section 21 to 25 in- clusive of Chapter 136 of the General Laws, which said sections permit certain sports and games on the Lord's Day and the charging of admission fees or the taking of collections at any such sport or games or the receiving of re- muneration by any person in charge of, or participating therein, or what it will do in re- lation thereto. Herbert J. Ryland and others. Article 40. To see what sum the Town will raise and appropriate to reimburse Patrolman Gordon G. MacIntire for medical attendance and care occasioned by injuries received in line of duty November 11, 1936, or what it will do in relation thereto. Article 41. To see what sum the Tows will raise and appropriate to reimburse Patrolman '.. Earl R. Hutchinson for medical attendance and care occasioned by injuries received in line of duty on May 9, 1936, or what it will do in relation thereto. Chief J. Cullinane. Article 42. To see what sum the Town will raise and appropriate for further development of the Town Forest or what it will do in rela- tion thereto. Committee on Re- forestration. Article 43. To see if the Town will raise and appropriate the sum of four hundred dollars ($400.00) for Child Welfare Work, to be ex- pended under the direction of the Reading Visiting Nurse Association, and the Board of Health, or what it will do in relation thereto. To see if the Town will author- ize and instruct the Board of Selectmen to re- new the present lease for suitable headquarters for Reading Post No. 62, of the American Le- gion, for a further term of one year, and will raise and appropriate therefor the sum of one thousand dollars ($1,000.00), or what it will do in relation thereto. Arthur M. Curtin and others. Article 45. To see what action the Town will take to consolidate the overlapping office of Sponsors' Agent with the Welfare Board and their Superintendent and Certifying Agent for W. P. A. John Strickland and others. The polls at the election March 1st will open at 7:00 A. M. and will close at 7 P.M. And you are directed to serve this warrant, by posting an attested copy thereof in at least ten public places in the Town not less than seven days prior to March 1, 1937, the date set for the meeting in said warrant, and to cause this warrant to be published in the Read - ing Chronicle, one day at least prior to said date. Hereof fail not and make due return of this warrant with your doings thereon, to the Town Clerk, at or before the time appointed .for said meeting.
