The records of the last-meeting were reand and approved. A Letter was read 'roam. Henry F. Bong, Commissioner of Corporations and Taxation stating that various bulletins and form letters sent out from his office would be in the future sent to the Finance Cor~nittee as the L., format°con. contained therein might be of value. Preliminary to hearing the various Boards scheduled for this meeting the Co_:12nittee took up the budgets of the departments and a round table discussion of the same was carried on for a short time. Chairman. Arthur S. Cook and Mr. George E. Horrocks appeared for the Board of Assessors budgets, the appropriation, asked for being the same as last year except for salary increases. Chairman Barclay, Mr. Lyons and Mr. Fletcher appeared for the Library Trustees. Their budget called for -"5,120 for salaries, the increase being caused by restoration of pay and additional help needed; and 70,000 for Maintenance, CT~a i rman Poland, Mr. Parker and Mrs, Rooney and Supt. Powell appeared on the budgets for Public Welfare. Chairs Poland explained in detail the needs of the Welfare Department J-, its various branches and stated that in his opinion the estimate totalin was conservative and based upon experience and their best judgment as to conditions-which would prevail in 1937• Mr. Poland was questioned by the Committee c s to the possibility of reducing the appropriation for 1937 and he asked for further time to consider the matter ; to report back to the Committee later in the evening. Chairman White and Mr. Watts appeared f or the Planning Board, the estimate for 1937 being the same as for last year. The `;'elfare Board returned and.
