The meeting- was called to order by the Chairman at 7.10 p.11. The
records of the last meeting uTere read and approved. The Chairman thanked
the members present for their promptness in gathering at an earlier hour,
The Chairman again referred to the subject of the tax rate and after
a round table discussion it was decided that every effort should he made to
keep the town expenditures at a level which would mean not over a < 33400
rate.
Mr. John L. Devaney sent 'trrord to the Committee that on account of his
health he would probably be unable to attend many of the meetings anal
suggested that someone else be appointed as chairman of the sub-co=-iittee
on the School Department* Mr. Allan. Ho Sturges was appointed by the Chair,
The Board of Selectmen first appeared, Chairman Leman, Morton and
Killara and went over with the committee the various budgetsestimates for
1937 of the departments under their jurisdiction. Chairman Leman called
attention to budgets calling for increased appropriations, especially the
Police and Tire Departments and explained the reasons for such increases
and answered questions asked by members of the Comraittee.
The School Committee next appeared,

Mr. Ellenwood and :supt. Sias appeared for the 1, ,~unicipal Light Department
and it was explained that Mr. Johnson was unable to attend on account of
another meeting and Mr. Evans was out of to rn. The upe-ri-Itendent outlined
the plans of the Light Department for 1937 more especially regarding :e~`ttnsion
of the underground wiring.
Where was some, discussion of the various bud€;ets but as the hour was
late, no particular matters were taken up.
The Chairman spoke of some misinfol-ni at ion which had gone out from the
'L?ittee appearing in the press and suggested that a publicity Committee be
appointed to furnish authentic figures and information to the citizens
through t' re press. It was voted that Chairman Roberts be designated to
determine what information should be made public.

and that the ward of Public Oelfare, Assessors, Cemetery Trustees, Library
Trustees, Board of Health and Planning Beard be requested to appear before
the Committee at varying hours.
