The meeting was opened by -!,he Chainfmmn at 7.45 P.14. The records of
the last meeting were read and approved..
The Chairman read a letter regarding a meeting of Associations of
Town finance Committees to be held at the Cite Club on the evening of
January 7th.
The Chairman called for a poll to determine the sense of the Coms~ 3 ttee
as t-o the amount of the tax rate for 19.3°7, as the result of which the
average rate was o .
The Committee then took tap the tentative budZets furnished. by the
various departments as shown on a comparative statement between 3936 and
1937. general discussion was held on several budgets and the problems
confronting the ccirmmittee. No votes were tal,~ens it u",as the general
opinion. tliat it would be better to omit the -meeting of Januan, lath in
order to give further time for the departments to prepare and submit their
actual estimates for 3937. It was voted to hold the next meeting on the
evening of January 20th to be called for seven o t clock and that the Board
of Selectmen, the School Committee,, Board of Pur.)lic V orks s Board of Public
Welfare and the Light Board be requested to appear before the Committee
at varying hours.
