Z00 D'' 22 P : 52 RECREATION DIVISION: (781) 942 - 9075 Ad hoc Memorial Park Use Review Committee Minutes November 23, 2004 at Town Hall Conference Room Attendance: Gail Wood, Board of Selectman Preston Lucas, Reading Youth Baseball Margaret O'Sullivan, Resident at large Davina Shuman, Resident of Memorial Park Rick Shaffer, Recreation Committee Member Frank Driscoll, Recreation Committee and Reading Youth Softball John Feudo, Recreation Administrator F. Driscoll made a motion to accept the minutes of November 16th . M. O'Sullivan seconded the motion. Motion passes in favor of acceptance of the minutes 6-0-0. P. Lucas went over the work plan and updated the survey results. G. Wood made a motion that the ad hoc Memorial Park Use Review committee includes that improvements of playground were a main concern of the respondents to the survey. F. Driscoll seconded the motion. Motion passes in favor of including that improvements of playground were a main concern of the respondents to the survey 6-0-0. M. O'Sullivan made a friendly amendment to the motion above to include Tennis Court improvements as well. F. Driscoll seconded the motion. Lucas made a motion to allow Community events that would be acceptable, to be scheduled G. Wood made a friendly amendment to include the phase "by the Recreation Committee or the Recreation Administrator, under the general direction of the Park Commissioners." D. Shuman seconded the motion. Motion passes in favor of motion 6-0-0. G. Wood made the motion that the committee recommend to allow practice times for league teams as determined by the Recreation Committee or the Recreation Administrator, under the general direction of the Park Commissioners. P. Lucas seconded the motion. Ad hoc Memorial Park Use Review Committee Minutes Con't G. Wood made the motion that the Committee recommends to allow opened unassigned space in Memorial Park, to be determined by the Recreation Committee or the Recreation Administrator for use at the community at large. This space may contain a "life" course or, whatever, to be determined proper by the Recreation Committee or the Recreation Administrator, under the general direction of the Park Commissioners. G. Wood exited the meeting at 8:00 PM. R. Shaffer made the motion that the committee recommends that Memorial Park should not be utilized for scheduled league games between intra-town or out-of-town teams that would require the fencing or lining of the field. M. O'Sullivan seconded the motion. G. Wood reentered the meeting at 8:10 PM. P. Lucas recapped the meeting schedule: ➢ 11/30 The Board of Selectmen will discuss the Preliminary Report of the Committee. ➢ 12/2 Public Hearing at the Senior Center at 7:30 PM. t ➢ 12/6 Town Counsel will meet with the ad hoc committee to discuss the final report.
