INPUT FROM ASSOCIATION FOR FINE AND PERFORMING AF=B T' Marc Guyot.t presented a packet of information generated this week: by AF PAF 4 including A list of space requirements, with both minimum and ideal needs A preliminary statement of probable financial commitment available form the arts groups in town A packet of brochure info from the Massachusetts Cultural Council describing impact potential oi- arts centers in general. Copies of AFPAR notes from visit_s to 'comparable' arts centers in Concord, Andover, Arlington and Belmont. In describing this info, Marc indicated that the initial components needed would be the theater and classrooms, but t'hat the studio rspace would be critical. to maintaining a positive cash flaw. Bill Hughes suggested that continuing input from AWAR would be appropriate and Marc Bu ott agreed to invite selected members to the next meeting. POTENTIAL PROPERTIES AVAILABLE In addition to the properties mentioned previously by Peter- H., others mentioned at this meeting included the property at the corner of Ha:-en/Linden, the M F Charles building at Main/Haven (the tap floor of which is available), the vacant: lot adjacent to Eric's Greenhouse, and property at the ice rink: site. Bill Hughes indicated that the K of C building is negotiable'. 5. R111-1) INPUT Bill Hughes indicated that he and Jim primarily present at the meetings for study of and impact: of the sale of th property, and that given the required town meeting, time is of the e=ssence. Jim Blomley distributed copies of the most recent appraisal of 25 Haven Street, and indicated that the board had not yet decided to act on a new appraisal. 6. TASK FORCE GOALS After discussion, the following prime goals fan the committee were agreed: Determine space needs of AFPAR Look: for alternate sites including the RML_D building Look: at: potenti. al economic impact of an arts center in Reading. It was agreed that the task: force cannot determine if or if not an arts center- can survive economi cal l y. that this is the purview of the group that would own/run the facility. Marc will discuss with AFPAF°i„ with goal that AFPAR could provide this input to the task: force. . VISITS TO OTHER FACILITIES Marc Guyott: indicated that v visit to the Newburyport Arts Center could be arranged for Thursday 2/10. Meet at the Town Hall lot at 2;30. Bruce MacDonald will look into the,possibility of the Newburyport Town Planner or Town Manager being present to discuss actual economic impact on the town since the center's completion. Agenda as follows: 15 minutes Tour of building 45 minutes Discussion with Jonathan Edwards regarding his knowledge of properties available and his input: on how the task: force can get started on a study of the economic input on the town. 15 minutes - Presentation by R.
