Motion passed in favor of accepting the minutes for April 15th, 20 10 byavote of5=0- 1 Joshua Eaton Master Plan B. Winne mentioned that he and J. Feudo met jointly with the Board of Selectmen the. previous night to go over the Master plan. The Board has a few questions and have decided to do their own public hearing pending the approval from the Recreation Committee. J. Feudo presented some minor changes to the plan that were brought up at the original public hearing including changing the layout.to the parking lot and moving the batting cage to the lower field. C. Campbell asked about money to fund the plan. J. Feudo stated there is money for a new playground in the FY 12 budget and, well as funding for new backstops in FYI 4 and 18.. The rest of. the money will either need to be programmed into the CIP or be raised by youth organizations. The committee felt in general that although the batting cage was controversial with the neighbors, they needed to act on behalf of the whole community. The community as a whole lacks space and a batting cage is a very good way to extend usability and functionality to a field. C. Campbell made a motion to accept the Joshua Eaton Master Plan as proposed. K. Kaminer seconded the motion. Motion passed in favor of accepting the Joshua Eaton Master Plan as proposed by a voter of 5 -0-1. Picnic Table Standards J. Feudo presented to the committee several picnic table options as the Town seeks a standard. The committee felt it was most important to have the table be ADA compliant.. They also thought is made sense to have more than one point of installation. They recommended the perforated style tops. Sports Organization Summit J. Feudo announced he was planning a sports organization summit for early June. This was based on the recommendation made by Selectman Bonazoli at the April meeting. Administrator's Report J. Feudo mentioned a number of committee members where up for reappointment. J. Feudo spoke to the committee about a possible partnership with the HS wrestling program for tournaments. The Committee felt it would be best to promote and advertise but not sponsor as the proceeds are going directly to the Friends of Reading Wrestling, therefore the Rec. Division is footing the insurance. The annual MLB Hit, Pitch and Run competition is May 14th at Symonds Way. The next master plan will be for Barrows field. That is expected to begin in June/July and finish up around late Fall. J. Feudo gave an update on some recreational projects around town: Washington Park playground -The playground has been ordered and the target installation range is. June 15th - 30th. The construction of Washington Park playground will take approximately 3 days and will be located as advised in the WP Master Plan. The brick campaign continues on. Thus far we have sold approximately 40 bricks. The goal is to sell 100. - We will continue the initial brick campaign until late summer and then establish a patio and walkway using the bricks to lead to the playground. Proceeds of the brick campaign will allow for purchase of picnic tables and benches and other amenities. Killam School playground -The Killam Playground will go out for proposal in Mid-May. The PTO has virtually accomplished its goal of raising $15K (about $1K short). The Killam PTO will assist in selecting a final playground structure and it will be located based on the Killam master plan. I hope to be able to award a contract in June and have the playground installed around the beginning. of August. This installation may be done as a supervised community build so the install date will not be clear until the contract -is awarded. N. Swain made a motion to adjourn. C. Campbell seconded the motion.
