S'. nin P 127 01 Present were Chairman and School Committee member David Michaud, Selectman Rick Schubert, Library Board member Vicki Yablonsky, Finance Committee member George Hines, resident Andrew Grimes and Town Manager Peter Hechenbleikner. Also present were Director of Public Works Jeffrey Zager, Town Engineer George Zambouras, Chris Cole from the Town of Reading Engineering Division and Highway Supervisor Mike DeBrigard, Mr. Zager led the committee on a complete tour of the various buildings and facilities on the DPW site. The tour included an informal history of the department. It was pointed out that the site is unsecured although a card system is in place at the fueling depot, where all town vehicles are fueled. A gate across the entrance road would cost somewhere in the neighborhood of $60,000 - the site would also require a camera system to be fully secured. It was unclear at the time of the tour if any of these items are included in the capital budget. Space for vehicle maintenance was described as problematic as the department has taken on responsibility for more of the town's vehicles and that there is need for perhaps two additional bays. There has been thought given to switching the current cold storage with vehicle maintenance. HVAC and vehicle access in and out of the cold storage building would v need to be figured out if this were to move forward. The location of the vehicle maintenance bays relative to public entry in to the office is also a potential problem in that the public must cross in front of the bay garage doors to get into the offices. An average day sees 10 -15 visitors from the general public. Records are stored in the attic, which provides less than desirable conditions and space. It was noted that air quality within the various bays is most likely not up to current codes. The tour concluded and Mr: Zambouras and Mr. Cole presented a report concerning site selection for a new Cemetery Garage to the committee. Town staff will have additional input to the report in terms of the rating scheme used etc. Once this has taken place the report will be updated and brought back to the committee. The committee requested that the next version of the report include page numbers and zoning setbacks. The meeting adjourned at approximately 8:45PM Secretary
