Meeting opening -Acting Chair Gina Snyder opened the meeting. Minutes - A motion was made and approved to accept the January 14 meeting minutes. Planning for National Teach-In Event - Ron presented an outline for the event's agenda, and some background notes to help discussion leaders access quick facts. At the end of the event, folks who are interested in further action may be interested in joining a new discussion group or a weatherization team. Committee members will work on finding a good carbon footprint calculator to refer interested people to, and we'll also develop a PowerPoint slide to summarize talking points/background facts. Weatherization - The Cambridge "HEET" team is willing to share information with other towns that may be interested in starting similar programs. Joan participated on a recent weatherization project in Cambridge. The committee talked about possibilities for starting such a team in Reading, and potential projects. Also, this could be a good topic for a future Green Sense TV show episode. Other - There was a brief discussion about the future of our EOT grant. The parking consultant presented preliminary findings - for example, 75% of downtown employees don't event know about incentive programs in place to encourage parking elsewhere. The state Safe Routes to School Program is planning to pull in the last two Reading elementary schools soon. The committee began talking about how to include the recycling drop-off component to the Earth Day fair.
