April 4, 2006
Pursuant to the Warrant and the Constable's Return thereon, a General Election was held for all eight
precincts at Addison Wesley Longman. The Warrant.was partially read by the Town Clerk, Cheryl A.
Johnson, when on motion of John Silvaggi, Precinct 4 Warden, it was voted to dispense with the further
reading of the Warrant, except the Constable's Return, which was then read by the Town Clerk. The
ballot boxes were examined by the respective Wardens and each found to be empty and registered 00.
The Town Clerk declared the polls open at 7:00 a.m. and closed at 8:00 p.m., with the following results:

Question 1
Shall the Town of Reading approve the amendments to Article 22 of the Reading Home Rule Charter,
proposed by the Reading Town Meeting, which will take effect on July 1, 2006 and which is summarized
below:
Article 22: Zoning Board of Appeals membership
Section 4-4: Board of Appeals
There shall be a Board of Appeals consisting of 5 members and 2 associate members appointed by
the Board of Selectmen for three (3) year terms so arranged that as near an equal number of terms as
possible shall expire each year.
The Board of Appeals shall have the powers and duties of Zoning Boards of Appeal under the
Constituition and General Laws of the Commonwealth and such additional powers and duties as may
be authorized by the Charter, by bylaw, or by Town Meeting vote.
