Bruce M. and Jack Cairl explained the history and purpose of AFPAR and of the task force. Leslie explained that the Chamber has certain concerns: - If the building is not sold, what would the impact be on rates, and wasn't this committment made? Bruce MacDonald elaborated on the votes taken by Town Meeting which apparently were simply to approve bonding for the Ash Street project. Bruce is continuing to research this issue. Bill Hughes, Jim Blomley and Carol Grimm all expressed concern about this matter. - Leslie indicated that an arts center may in fact attract customers to the area, but this is difficult to quantify. - Parking impact would be an issue, perhaps negative on the local businesses, perhaps offset by a positive impact. Leslie felt that it may be better to wait a year to sell the building, as the economy is rising. Bruce has spoken to Bob Nordstrand who feels the same way. 3.
