Senior Center - Pearl Street School
October 16, 1989
Present: Mary Andreola, Virginia Bizzarro, Lois Bond, Gladys
Cail, Frank Day, Dorothy Foxon, Diane Guilfoyle,
Ginny Lane, Linda Nordberg, Fred Perry-Patrons,
Loretta Spaulding
Absent: None
Meeting was called to order at 5:35 P.M. by Chairperson Gladys
Cail at the Senior Center, Pearl Street School.
Minutes of the September meeting were accepted on a motion by
Ginny Lane and seconded by Virginia Bizzarro. 9-0-0.,
Treasurer's Report - Reviewed monthly appropriations sheets
noting projected van repair expenditures and grant status.
Director's Report
Shoppers Assistance Program - $3,000 grant has been received
from Mystic Valley and will be added to the existing $630
balance.
Surplus Food Distribution - There was enough food to be dis-
tributed under the new no-registration plan; what was left went
to the food bank, possibly to Spot Pond and to the Outreach
Worker to distribute. A lesser amount of surplus food will be
ordered for the next distribution.
Muriel Moss will give a geriatric substance abuse program on
November 15.
Banking Workshop This will be held on November 7, 1989 at the
Senior Center from 1:00 - 3:00 P.M.
Doug Wade of the Exxon Gas Station has kindly offered to donate
his time on repair of the van.
November 14 Acid Rain Program
November 22 - a foot care program will be given by a podiatrist
old Business
Packets were handed out to members who weren't able to attend,
"On the Board, Above Board, By the Board", which was held on Sep-
tember 28, 1989.
Van Committee Up-date - a meeting was held on October 5, 1989. A
letter to publicize kick-off of van campaign will be sent to
newspaper after cost has been determined.
New Business
At Fall Town Meeting there will be a warrant to appropriate money
for feasibility study and design of new senior center. Suggest-
ions on how to get opinions of the seniors on this issue were
made.
It was moved by Linda Nordberg, seconded by Ginny Lane that a
list of town meeting members, brief summary, copy of warrant and
data sheet be distributed to Patrons of Older Adults, Golden
Agers and mealsite. 9-0-0
There will be an Eastside Neighborhood Association meeting on Oc-
tober 25 where the Pearl Street School issue will be on the
agenda.
FY 191 Budget - First copy is due by November 14. Brainstorming
and prioritizing of needs were discussed by Board Members.
It was moved by Loretta Spaulding and seconded by Virginia Biz-
zarro that the Thanksgiving Dinner will be served this year as in
the past. 8-0-0.
It was moved by Ginny Lane and seconded by Virginia Bizzarro that
the meeting be adjourned at 7:30 P.M.
