April 9, 1990
Present: Mary Andreola, Lois Bond, Gladys Cail, Ginny Lane,
Linda Nordberg, Loretta Spaulding
Absent: Diane Guilfoyle, Dorothy Foxon, Frank Day, Virginia
Bizzarro
Meeting was called to order at 5:30 P.M. by Gladys Cail in the
Arnold Berger Room, 16 Lowell Street.
Minutes of the March meeting were accepted. 5-0-0
Brief symposium was presented by Richard Kelleher and Charles
Gauthier from Senior Citizen Publishing, Inc. on the possibility
of publishing a monthly newsletter for Reading Elder Services.
Financial Report
The Financial Report was moved by Ginny Lane and seconded by Mary
Andreola. 5-0-0
Director's Report
It was moved by Ginny Lane and seconded by Loretta Spaulding that
the Director's Report be accepted. 5-0-0
The first get together of 'Cracker Barrel' was held last Thursday
- 8 people were in attendance - topic for the day was a location
of senior center.
Old Business
Van Update - need final $370 to cover cost of new van
purchase. The expected delivery date is
Labor Day.
Nominating Committee nothing definite as yet to report from
this committee.

New Business
Summer Schedule - discussion tabled until May Council on
Aging meeting.
Volunteer Reception - brochure will be hand delivered or mailed
to the volunteers for the reception. The
Reading Junior Women's Club will be provid-
ing the refreshments.
Consumer Assistance
Program - to assist people who have consumer com-
plaints - this service will.be held at
the Senior Center at designated times.
Volunteer Marion Peterson and Lois Bond
have been attending training sessions on
this program.
Ron Addario of Reading Community Action spoke to the Board Mem-
bers about a 80-10-10 program whereby a major appeal to request
$200 from each qualifying Reading resident will be collected and
distributed by August 1 between the school, library and Elder
Services.
Meeting was adjourned at 7:32 P.M. which was moved by Linda
Nordberg and seconded by Loretta Spaulding.
