HomeMy WebLinkAbout1990-06-11 Council on Aging Minutescouncil on Aging Board Meeting Arnold Berger Room - 16 Lowell Street June 11, 1990 Present: Mary Andreola, Lois Bond, Gladys Cail, Frank Day, Diane Guilfoyle, Ginny Lane, Linda Nordberg, Loretta Spaulding Absent: Virginia Bizzarro, Dorothy Foxon Meeting was called to order at 6:43 P.M. by Chairperson Gladys Cail, in the Arnold Berger Room, 16 Lowell Street. Minutes of the May meeting were accepted on a motion by Loretta Spaulding and seconded by Diane Guilfoyle. 5-0-0 Financial Report The Financial Report was not available for this meeting. Director's Report The Director's Report was moved by Ginny Lane and seconded by Loretta Spaulding to be accepted. 5-0-0 old Business Nominating Committee report - Ginny Lane has agreed to be considered for the office of Chairperson. Summer Schedule - Discussion focused on piggybacking on other recreation events as a way of dealing with decreased funding. Lois will meet with Lorraine Dennis of the "Y" to discuss the possibility of doing a strawberry and shortcake festival at this year's Reading carnival which will be July 11 through 14. This to replace the ice cream social. Recreation Department has made arrangements with Bob Batchelder and his Totem Pole Band for seniors to go to a concert on the green on August 5. We will explore van transportation to the concert. Council on Aging Board Meeting June 11, 1990 Page two New Business - none other Business Phil Dole will teach the Heimlich maneuvre to the staff, mealsite volunteers at the Cracker Barrel on June 28. Mr. Dole can teach up to 30 people. Twenty-one resumes were received for the Outreach Workers pos- ition: four (4) applicants are coming back for second round of interviews this Tuesday and Wednesday - a decision should be made by end of this week. A punch and cookie retirement reception for Bette Pack will be on June 27 at 3:30 P.M. Meeting was adjourned at 7:26 P.M. which was moved by Ginny Lane and seconded by Linda Nordberg. 6-0-0.
