HomeMy WebLinkAbout1990-07-09 Council on Aging MinutesCouncil on Aging Board Meeting Arnold Berger Room - 16 Lowell Street July 9, 1990 Present: Mary Andreola, Virginia Bizzarro, Lois Bond, Gladys Cail, Dorothy Foxon, Diane Guilfoyle, Ginny Lane, Loretta Spaulding Absent: Frank Day, Linda Nordberg Meeting was called to order at 6:33 P.M. by Chairperson Gladys Cail, in the Arnold Berger Room, 16 Lowell Street. Minutes of the June meeting were accepted on a motion by Ginny Lane and seconded by Virginia Bizzarro. 7-0-0 Financial Report The Financial Report was moved by Virginia Bizzarro and seconded by Loretta Spaulding. 7-0-0 Director's Report The Director's Report was moved by Ginny Lane and.seconded by Dorothy Foxon to be accepted. 7-0-0 - Lois briefly spoke of Bette Pack's replacement, Tamsen Almeida, as Outreach Worker. - Dorothy Foxon offered to contact a Corning ware representative that she had dealt with in the past regarding the purchase of china dishes by Mystic Valley for the Senior Center. Old Business Reading Carnival YMCA underwrote the purchase of necessary sup- plies for strawberry festival. Two hundred shortcakes plus ice will be donated by Harrows Restaurant. Volunteers will hull strawberries in the Senior Center at 3:00 P.M. Thursday, July 12 then additional volunteers will serve that evening. 1 Council on Aging Board Meeting July 9, 1990 Page 2 New Business - Mary Andreola, Virginia Bizzarro and Loretta Spaulding served on the Nominating Committee. Diane Guilfoyle moved and Ginny Lane seconded that nominations be accepted. One vote was cast for election of new officers. New officers are as follows:- Ginny Lane - Chairperson Loretta Spaulding - Vice Chairperson Dorothy Foxon - Secretary/Treasurer - due to fiscal constraints and no budget, it will be negotiated with the instructors to be paid directly by students who sign up for the Fall classes. Other Business - Diane Guilfoyle has been informed of a source who will under- write for this year's Thanksgiving Dinner. If pastries were served at Bingo games would the attendance increase? Lois to explore day old bread stores, Cerretani. Time of Bingo will start closer to 1:00 P.M. - A note will be written to George Richards, new incoming President of Patrons, to see if he or a representative would like to be a liaison with council on Aging.
