Present: Mary Andreola, Lois Bond, Gladys Cail, Dorothy Foxon,
Diane Guilfoyle, Ginny Lane, Linda Nordberg. Bob Dugan
and George Richard - Patrons for Older Adults
Absent: Virginia Bizzarro, Frank Day, Eva Hakanson, Loretta
Spaulding
Meeting was called to order at 6:32 P.M. by Chairperson, Ginny
Lane, in the Arnold Berger Room, 16 Lowell Street.
Minutes of the July meeting were accepted on a motion by Gladys
Cail and seconded by Mary Andreola. 5-0-0
Financial Report - Not Available
Director's Report The Director's Report was moved by Gladys
Cail and seconded by Diane Guilfoyle to be accepted. 5-0-0
Old Business
- Van - delivery hopefully will be made beginning of December
- Lois went over the outline of grant submitted for the Ma.
Small Cities Grant for conversion of old Reading Fire Station
to a permanent Senior Center
- Shopping Assistance Grant was turned down by Mystic Valley
Elder Services but there is enough money to cover the position
for the remainder of this fiscal year
-Mystic Valley Elder Services will go to Kittery, Maine to pur-
chase Corelle dishes for the mealsite
New Business
- Class information - as of today's date the number of ap-
plicants is as follows:-
Ceramics-10; Oil Painting-7; Exercise-3
- E.O.E.A. Formula Grant (to pay a portion of Coordinator of
Volunteers salary) - the grant is ready for submittal
- School Policy on space rental will impact kitchen and aud-
itorium rental for the Thanksgiving dinner. We anticipate
increased costs.
- Kids and caring video will be shown on Channel 3, September 20

Other Business
- Reading Elder Services participated in the 'Wellness Fair'
held on September 4, 1990 at Reading Memorial High School -
resource material for teachers was made available
- Survey from VNA Middlesex East inquiring which services would
be most helpful for area residents
- There are classes of interest available to seniors at the North
Shore Community College
- An invitation was received from Lynn Bak for a senior citizen
to represent the Council on Aging on an Ad Hoc Committee to
survey what is the financial situation of schools
- Eden's Edge October 2 concert will be held at the First Parish
Church in Beverly - tickets and transportation are free
- Fee schedule for van to be discussed at next meeting
Meeting was adjourned at 7:45 P.M. which was moved by Diane Guil-
foyle and seconded by Mary Andreola. 6-0-0
