HomeMy WebLinkAbout1991-01-14 Council on Aging MinutesCouncil on Aging Board Meeting Arnold Berger Room - 16 Lowell Street January 14, 1991 Present: Mary Andreola, Virginia Bizzarro, Lois Bond, Gladys Cail, Diane Guilfoyle, Ginny Lane-Chairperson, Eva Hakanson, Loretta Spaulding Absent: Frank Day, Dorothy Foxon, Linda Nordberg Meeting was called to order at 6:42 P.M. by Chairperson Ginny Lane in the Arnold Berger Room, 16 Lowell Street. Minutes of the December meeting were accepted on a motion by Vir- ginia Bizzarro and seconded by Mary Andreola. 6-0-0 Financial Report The Financial Report was moved by Virginia Bizzarro and seconded by Loretta Spaulding. 6-0-0 Van statistics were reviewed for the past 6 months. $1600 was allocated for van gasoline for fiscal 191 of which $434.53 is left. This situation will be reviewed at the end of February. It was moved by Eva Hakanson and seconded by Gladys Cail that the seniors who go to/from mealsite be asked for a suggested donation for gasoline for the van be put in Elder Services Revolving Fund. 6-0-0 Director's Report The Director's Report was moved by Gladys Cail and seconded by Eva Hakanson. 7-0-0 - January 23 will be the Health Wellness Fair for the Town of Reading employees at Coolidge. Reading Elder Services will have a display table with information on various facets of interest for seniors and their families. 1 Council on Aging Board Meeting Page Two January 14, 1991 Old Business Human Services 192 Budget will go before the Board of Selectmen either this Thursday, January 17 or January 24. New Business Ginny Lane will speak with Fred Perry of Patrons of Older Adults re making suggestions as to how the Council on Aging Board can help out with the Tea Dances. The Chairperson requested that the attendance policy of Board Members be discussed at the next meeting. Speakers' Policy No speaker is allowed to speak during mealtime at mealsite without prior approval - a speaker's policy needs to be issued. Bingo Gladys Cail will mention at the Bingo gathering on January 15 that Bingo cards will be 25 cents each. Starting in February light refreshments will be served. Gladys hasagreed to be our liasion with the Bingo activity. Virginia Bizzarro will check out local businesses for availability of day old baked goods.
