HomeMy WebLinkAbout1991-05-13 Council on Aging MinutesCouncil on Aging Board Meeting Arnold Berger Room - 16 Lowell street May 13, 1991 Present: Virginia Bizzarro, Lois Bond, Gladys Cail, Dorothy Foxon, Diane Guilfoyle, Eva Hakanson, Ginny Lane, Loretta Spaulding Absent: Linda Nordberg, Frank Day, Mary Andreola Meeting was called to order at 6:40PM by Ginny Lane, Chairperson in the Arnold Berger Room, 16 Lowell Street. Minutes of the April meeting were accepted on a motion by Gladys Cail and seconded by Virginia Bizzarro. 8-0-0 Financial Report The Financial Report for April was moved by Loretta Spaulding and seconded by Diane Guilfoyle. 8-0-0 Director's Report It was moved by Virginia Bizzarro and seconded by Gladys Cail that the Director's Report for April be accepted. 8-0-0 - Dorothy Foxon accompanied 5th grade students of Joshua Eaton to Daniels Nursing Home for a patriotism program - the stu- dents did a wonderful job. At the recent food distribution there was shortage of some items. After evaluation, the process for Surplus Food dis- tribution will remain the same as in the past. - One Video Place has agreed to supply complimentary, video movies to Monday-at-the Movies since Movie Loft has gone out of business. Lois suggested revamping the set-up of Director's Report which may show more detail as to what is being done. _ Old Business Any changes in the By-laws must go through Town Meeting; Town Counsel; have a public hearing and be mentioned in the newspaper. 1 Council on Aging Arnold Berger Room - 16 Lowell Street May 13, 1991 New Business It was moved by Loretta Spaulding and seconded by Eva Hakanson that we recess for July and August and meet only in the event of an emergency. Nominating Committee - Eva Hakanson and Virginia Bizzarro agreed to serve on the Nominating Committee for 1992 officers. Slate will be presented at the next meeting. volunteer Reception will be held on Wednesday, May 15 at the Senior Center. A 'proclamation' will be presented by the Board of Selectmen to those who contributed to the purchase of the new van, also, a proclamation honoring those who have volunteered for Reading Elder Services. The Council on Aging Board received an invitation on behalf of Cadet Girl Scout Troops 1271 and 1273 to attend a dinner and/or ceremony on Friday, May 17, 1991 for the Silver Award. It will be attended by Loretta Spaulding and possibly Mary Andreola and Diane Guilfoyle. The Strawberry Festival will be held on July.11. Date of the Board meeting in June has been changed from June 10 to June 3 with the By-law committee meeting at 5:30 PM followed by the regular Board meeting at 6:30 PM.
