ARNOLD BERGER ROOM - 16 LOWELL STREET
OCTOBER 15, 1991
Present: Mary Andreola, Lois Bond, Gladys Cail; Leonard Dergay,
Dorothy Foxon, Eva Hakanson, Ginny Lane, Linda
Nordberg, Loretta Spaulding
Absent: Virginia Bizzarro
Meeting was called to order at 6:35 p.m. by.Ginny Lane, Chairper-
son in the Berger Conference Room.
Minutes of the September meeting were accepted on a motion by
Gladys Cail and seconded by Loretta Spaulding. 7-0-0
Financial Report
The Financial Report for September was moved by Eva Hakanson and
seconded by Gladys Cail. 8-0-0
Director's Report
Mary Andreola expanded on the presentation by North Shore Coun-
cils on Aging recently held in Danvers.
Old Business
Discussion centered on the continuing drafting of regulations to
replace the old bylaws. Several language changes were suggested.
A "clean" copy of the work to date will be presented for discus-
sion at the November meeting.
New Business
New Board member orientation will be planned with a combination
of old and new members participating with the Director.
A discussion ensued about the skills that are needed to round out
the membership of the Council. Skills highlighted included: com-
mitment, interest,political experience, marketing skills,
development skills, fund raising skills, advocacy, experience
with town government, grant writing experience. The Chairperson
suggested Board members be proactive, seeking names who will fit
the profile. Ginny Lane and Linda Nordberg agreed to pursue
potential candidates.
Information about the formation of a Friends organization will
be presented at the next meeting.
Thanksgiving dinner will be Saturday noon, November 23, in the
Reading Memorial High School Cafeteria. An "angel" has provided
the funding for this year's dinner. The Council agreed that a
free will offering will be taken to augment the fuel assistance
revolving fund.
Board liaison assignments will be discussed in November.
other Business
j Leonard Dergay discussed an AARP VCR film about the crisis in
health insurance. A Medigap forum will compliment the AARP film.

Information on nutrition was also suggested.
The Tea Dance Committee will be meeting with the Director to plan
the coming year.
Next meeting: November 4
Meeting was adjourned at 7:55 p.m. which was moved by Gladys Cail
and seconded by Eva Hakanson.
