HomeMy WebLinkAbout1991-12-09 Council on Aging MinutesCOUNCIL ON AGING BOARD MEETING ARNOLD BERGER ROOM - 16 LOWELL STREET DECEMBER 91 1991 Present: Mary Andreola, Virginia Bizzarro, Lois Bond, Gladys Cail Leonard Dergay, Eva Hakanson, Ginny Lane, Linda Nordberg Loretta Spaulding, Irving Stackpole Absent: Dorothy Faxon, George Richards Minutes of the November moved by Virginia Bizzarro and seconded by Gladys Cail. 9-0-0 Financial report was moved by Gladys Cail and seconded by Vir- ginia Bizzarro. 9-0-0 Director's Report was moved by Virginia Bizzarro and seconded by Eva Hakanson. 9-0-0 Thanksgiving Dinner reports were very favorably. Jam session musicians were appreciated as was the participation by the Coolidge students. $167.00 was contributed for the Elder Services Fuel Assistance Fund. The angel will not fund a dinner next year. Liaison committees were discussed and resulted in the following assignments: Bingo: Bizzarro and Cail; Tea Dance: Cail and Spaulding; Cracker Barrel: Andreola. Board members reported on contacts made with Councils on Aging in communities regarding Friends groups. There were mixed reviews about the effectiveness and level of cooperation between COA boards and Friends organizations. Andreola will pursue other con- tacts and report at the January meeting. Information sought: copy of by-laws, composition of Board of Directors, celebrity board,. donor list, community profile, how legally organized. Nordberg will have attorney peruse rules of organization developed to date by the By-law review committee. Preliminary discussion centered on planning to be done when Mas- sachusetts Small Cities Grants are announced. Meeting adjourned at 8:15. Respectfully submitted, Lois K. Bond Director
