Present: Mary Andreola, Gladys Cail, Leonard Dergay, Dorothy
Foxon, Eva Hakanson, Linda Nordberg, Irving Stackpole,
Loretta Spaulding, and Lois Bond.
Guest: Mrs. Dergay
The meeting was called to order at 6:31 p.m.by Chairperson Irving
Stackpole.
Minutes of the August meeting were accepted as amended on a mo-
tion by Dorothy Foxon and seconded by Gladys Cail. 8-0-0
The Financial Report was accepted on a motion by Gladys Cail and
seconded by Eva Hakanson. 8-0-0.
The Director's Report was accepted on a motion by Linda Nordberg
and seconded by Mary Andreola. 8-0-0. Clarification on the
monthly statistical report was requested.
Old Business
Linda Nordberg suggested that Section 6 title of the old COA
Bylaws be changed from "Voting" to "How to Amend". Irving Stack-
pole suggested a section on governance be included in the new
Operating Rules of the COA. A major portion of the October meet-
ing will be devoted to discussion of the new Operating Rules.
Loretta Spaulding reported that a variance for a unisex toilet
has been applied for and will presumably be announced at on Oc-
tober Board of Selectmen's meeting.
New Business
COA'vacancy was discussed with questions surrounding the number
of applicants and the time frame for filling the vacancy.
Other Business
COA members will present Florence Farelli with a book to acknow-
ledge her pending retirement as the van driver. Mary Andreola is
making the arrangements.
Mary Andreola led a discussion on the Y's Pride Stride 4 mile
fund raising walk to be held October 18. Jessie Mraz, Y Director,
spoke of a need for sponsors, commitment and pledges if the walk
is to be successful. The Pride Stride organization will provide a
booth for educational material about senior services. Question:
can items be sold to raise additional money?
A motion to support the participation of the COA in Pride Stride
was made by Linda Nordberg and seconded by Gladys Cail. 8-0-0.

There being no liaison reports nor further business, Linda
Nordberg moved and Gladys Cail seconded the motion to adjourn.
