Present: Mary Andreola, Gladys Cail, Leonard Dergay,
Eva Hakanson, Linda Nordberg, Loretta Spaulding,
Sal Mele, Lois Bond
Absent: Irving Stackpole, Dot Foxon (excused)
Guests: Mrs. Dergay
The meeting was called to order at 6:45 p.m. by Vice Chairperson
Mary Andreola in the Berger Conference Room.
Minutes of the January 11, 1993, meeting were accepted on a mo-
tion by Sal Mele and seconded by Gladys Cail. 8-0-0
The Financial Report was accepted on a motion by Linda Nordberg
and seconded by Eva Hakanson. 8-0-0
The Director's Report was accepted on a motion by Eva Hakanson
and seconded by Sal Mele. 8-0-0.
After discussion, Gladys Cail moved and Linda Nordberg seconded a
motion that recommended the Senior Center be a nonsmoking build-
ing. 8-0-0. This motion to be forwarded to the Board of Health
and the Town Manager.
A discussion ensued about fund raising ideas, from bingo to for-
mation of "Friends". Outreach to the 4030 seniors in town is im-
portant in order to maximize the number of people who utilize the
center and services. Suggestions included a telephone tree to
alert people to programs, and expanded delivery of meals.
Liaison reports:
Loretta Spaulding reported Patrons will meet on Wednesday.
Mary Andreola reported Cracker Barrel will not meet this week.
Mystic Valley Elder Services letter was reviewed requesting mem-
bers for the Advisory Committee. Because membership emphasis was
placed on other communities, it was determined not to forward
names.
Copies of the FY 194 budget were distributed.
Open House plans were discussed. Linda Nordberg will join the
committee. Dignitaries will be invited.
Meeting adjourned at 7:55 p.m. on a motion by Eva Hakanson and
seconded by Gladys Cail. 8-0-0.
