HomeMy WebLinkAbout1993-10-18 Council on Aging MinutesCOUNCIL ON AGING OCTOBER 18, 1993 BERGER CONFERENCE ROOM 16 LOWELL STREET READING, MA 01867-2684 Present: Mary Andreola, Gladys Cail, Dot Foxon, Mary Mundjer, Linda Nordberg, Eva Hakanson, Sal Mele, Sandra Trainor Absent: Len Dergay and Ginny Lane excused The meeting was called to order at 6:40 p.m. by Vice Chairperson pro temp Linda Nordberg. Minutes of the Sept. 13, 1993, were accepted on a motion by Gladys Cail and seconded by Dot Foxon. 7-0-0 Financial Report was accepted on a motion by Sal Mele and seconded by Eva Hakanson. 7-0-0 Director's Report was accepted on a motion by Gladys Cail and seconded by Mary Andreola. 7-0-0 Mary Andreola reported on the Adult Day Care Task Force and distributed a report. Report did not include number of Reading residents currently using out-of-town adult day care programs. Closing of Somerset Adult Day Health program was discussed. Master Plan information requested regarding increasing adult population as indicator for future day care need in Reading. A discussion about outside doors locks at Tannerville included reading of letters from the Reading Health Director and the Reading Housing Authority stating that under Massachusetts General Law c143 section 3S, the Housing Authority is exempt from this requirement. A motion by Dot Foxon and seconded by Mary Andreola requested the above mentioned letters be filed with the minutes. 7-0-0 Mary Andreola moved and Sal Mele seconded that Gladys Cail be elected as Vice Chairperson of the Council. Dot Foxon moved and Mary Andreola seconded that nominations be closed. 7-0-0 Gladys was unanimously elected as Vice Chairperson. Sal Mele raised a question about the temperature of the lunch food. There were complaints earlier. Lois Bond will check system with meal site manager. After discussion it was requested that information about SHARE be pursued as a way of doing outreach from the senior population. Meeting was adjourned at 8:10 p.m.. Respectfully submitted, Lois K.
