The meeting was called to order at 6:30 p.m. by Chairperson Ginny Lane.
Minutes of the May 9, 1994, meeting were moved by Mary Andreola and seconded by Mary
Mundj er. 9-0-0
The Financial Report was reviewed and accepted
The Director's Report was moved by Gladys Cail and seconded by Mary Andreola. 9-0-0
Results from MVES' survey of Meals on Wheels participants will be requested to determine client
satisfaction and if there are needs to be addressed.
The hot weather promoted ideas on how to make people more comfortable at the Center, such as
having a water and glasses readily available.
A group of office volunteers will be stuffing and affixing labels for the survey mailing. Data
processing is supplying the labels. Housing complexes will make available drop boxes for the
residents.
350 events were discussed and there was enthusiastic agreement that it was a great event.
Summerfest strawberry shortcake festival is planned for July 14. Mary Andreola, Sal Mele and
Sandy Trainor will coordinate the event. Bill Lavoie is the contact person from the Summerfest
Committee. Bond will develop plan and instructions.
The Massachusetts Historical Commission award and ceremony were discussed. A thank you note
will be sent to the Reading Historical Commission for submitting the Senior Center restoration
project for the award.
Term appointments were reviewed. Linda Nordberg will be retiring. Board members expressed
their thanks to Linda for her participation and valuable contributions. Members wishing to be
reconsidered for appointment must complete an application at the Town Clerk's office.
The Council has agreed to not meet in July.
A slate of officers will be voted at the August 8 meeting.
Thanks were expressed for Ginny Lane for her work as Chairperson of the Council.
Meeting was adjourned at 7:55 p.m.
