Sally Hoyt was a candidate for the Senate seat. A meeting with the Trust Fund Commissioners has clarified the money allotment for the medical taxi and chaircar. The Board of Selectmen received the report from the Triad formation group consisting of Bond, Sgt. Robbins and Officer Sullivan. Next steps will be developing the S.P.I.C.E. Committee and planning for community education meetings. Discussion on the van transportation program reiterated points that were made at the April meeting: priority given to Elder Services programs and medical appointments; shopping and then non-medical appointments. It was determined that if people are consistently not ready for van pickups they will be reminded and then told "if not ready the van will not wait." There is need for continuing education regarding the reservation schedule process. It is permissable for a person who owns a car but elects to use the van to do so as long as the schedule can be accommodated. The Board encouraged wheelchair transports to be incorporated into the regular schedule. After discussion it was moved by Dottye Foxon and seconded by Sandra Trainor that the Council on Aging endorse the concept of free van transportation within the Town of Reading. The Council requests the Town Manager to take this motion under consideration when making a discussion regarding van transportation. 9-0-0 Operating guidelines for Boards, Committees, Commissions and Task Forces were reviewed with particular attention to posting, quorum and the donation of gifts policy. Respectfully submitted, Lois K. Bond
