HomeMy WebLinkAbout1995-06-12 Council on Aging MinutesCOUNCIL ON AGING June 12, 1995 BERGER CONFERENCE ROOM 16 LOWELL STREET READING, MA 01867-2684 Present: Andreola, Brown, Cail, Dergay, Page, Bond Absent: Mele, Mundjer, Foxon The meeting was called to order at 6:35 p.m. by Chairperson Gladys Cail. Financial report was reviewed. Administrator's report was reviewed and accepted on a motion by Oliver Brown and seconded by Mary Andreola. 5-0-0 Mary Andreola was renewed her reappointment papers for the Board. Eva Hakanson and Sandra Trainer have not. Gladys Cail reported that the Barrows School program was very nice with good conversation with the children. Silver Haired Legislature results have not been formally sent to Reading. It has been reported over the phone that Walter Redding placed first and Sally Hoyt seconded in the Senate race. Better communication is needed with MVES to learn when speakers will be at the meal site. Board members discussed the appropriateness of some topics during the meal hour. Effective July 1, 1995 there will be no fee for the Division of Elder Services' van. Riders wishing to make a donation will know that the money will deposited in the Elder Services Revolving Fund. This information came via a memo from the Town Manager. A review of the programming includes: Class Attendance: 12-14 oil painting; 12 ceramics; 9 watercolor; 7-10 family history; Support Groups Attendance: 20+ AA; 8-0 Alzheimer; 18-15 Scuttlebutt; 10 Low Vision; 19 Arthritis.
