Director's Report was moved by Dottye Foxon and seconded by Mary Andreola. 6-0-0
Conversations with EMARC (Eastern Middlesex Association for Retarded Citizens) were
reviewed with Board members. Salient points discussed by the Board included need for senior
citizens to have access to the Center; appropriateness of classes; willingness and ability of teachers
to teach a diverse population; lunch and a movie on Mondays were proposed.
Bruce Macdonald arrived to discuss the Senior Property Tax/Work Program. Materials from
other communities were reviewed. Points of discussion included: 1.) a preference for low income
but allowance for extenuating financial circumstances; 2.) skills needed by departments be
considered; 3.) IRS income reporting forms be used; 4.) there be flexibility within a household so
both spouses may split the 100 hours if there are jobs opportunities; 5.) all financial programs be
advertised; 6.) do not interrupt volunteer programming. Dottye Foxon and Mary Andreola will
work on the Senior Tax project. Mr. MacDonald left to attend another meeting.
The question arose about bingo on the second Tuesday. (The room is scheduled for that day so
bingo is not possible.)
Members are in agreement that fans in the dining room would greatly help. DPW will be
contacted.
Meeting adjourned 8:35 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Lois K. Bond
