HomeMy WebLinkAbout1996-12-09 Council on Aging MinutesCOUNCIL ON AGING December 9, 1996 Berger Room Town Hall 16 Lowell Street Reading, MA 01867-2684 Present: Mary Andreola, Gladys Cail, Betty Cronin, Dottye Foxon, Mary Mundjer, Naaz Page Joanne Wooldridge, Lois Bond Excused: Ellen O'Hara, Gay Williams The meeting was called to order at 6:20 p.m. by Chairperson Mary Andreola. Minutes of the November 4, 1996, meeting were accepted on a motion by Joanne Wooldridge and seconded by Gladys Cail. 7-0-0 Financial report was reviewed and accepted on a motion by Joanne Wooldridge and seconded by Dottye Foxon. 7-0-0 Directors report was reviewed and accepted on a motion by Dottye Foxon and seconded by Gladys Cail. 7-0-0 Discussion covered the following items: Lee Roberts resignation as Coordinator of Volunteers was announced. The Board expressed appreciation for the quality of work that Lee had done for the community and for the intergenerational programs. Information was given to the Board regarding 128 Ford's suggested proposal to "give" a van to the Town for 3 years. The Town would be responsible for installation of the lift, raising the roof and insurance and maintenance costs. Motion to Music participants need a lower thermostat setting during their class. The new teacher is charging $1.50 per session. People are interested in a Tai Chi class. Mary Mundjer, Mary Andreola, Gladys Cail and Betty Cronin expressed interest in attending the Selectmen's discussion on volunteers and conflict of interest. Plans were made for the assembly and distribution of the Elder Services baskets on December 23. Mundjer, Cail, Andreola, Cronin and Foxon are available to help.
