Dave Brigham was welcomed as the newest board member.

Williams.

Wooldridge. 8-0-0
Betty Cronin reported on the RAD for older women class conducted by the Reading
Police Department.
The "succession of officers" was discussed. Sally Hoyt presented the Board of Selectmen
model. Mary Andreola will present at the next meeting a statement for discussion, which
will reflect succession with flexibility.
Sally Hoyt reported on the Silver Haired Legislature Conference's Senior Advocacy Day
to be held at the State House in October. Participants met with committee chairpersons to
encourage bills of importance to senior citizens be moved out of committee and on to the
floor. Another advocacy day will be November 18.
There was a lengthy discussion about the CORI checks to be conducted at COAs on
volunteers. It was felt the decisions should "err" on the side of strictness due to the
liability for the COA and the Town. An issue of concern would be if a volunteer cleared
for one position wants to volunteer in another capacity. How difficult will it is to track
the appropriateness of a volunteer's changing status if there is a question on their CORI?
Bond will attend a CORI workshop at the MCOA annual meeting and will share
information with the Board at the December meeting.
Mary Andreola will contact election committees to begin to address transportation
possibilities during the elections.
The superintendent is looking for 17 seniors to participate in the school's strategic
planning project. The Board asked what recruitment techniques are used to draft other
participants and what are the goals.
Bond gave a report of the Adopt-a-Family program. Distribution dates will be November
25 and December 23 at the DPW garage. The RES baskets will be assembled and
distributed on November 26. Mary Andreola and Betty Cronin will help.
The Board had considerable discussion about the new van and how the problem will be
resolved in a timely and effective manner.
The meeting adjourned at 9:15 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
